VESPA Tutorials

Portable Cache Server System (PorCaSS) is developed by the VOPDC team to support the tutorial sessions during international conferences. It is a laptop computer with 2 network interfaces, and configured to serve as an internet gateway including a cache. The caching system used is Squid-cache. It also hosts a local webserver providing access to locally stored tutorial files, as well as most recent versions of most VO tools. All tutorials are run before hand's-on sessions in order to fill the cache with the required files from internet. During the workshop, participants connect to PorCaSS to have access to tutorial files, and the loading of tutorial material from the network is greatly reduced by the caching system. PorCaSS is particularly adapted when the conference network connection is poor or overloaded.
